Law Career Convention (LCC)

The annual Law Career Convention (LCC) serves to provide a platform for law students and graduates to connect with top Malaysian legal firms. The convention features a career fair and also talks by prominent leaders in the field. Participating firms usually include legal firms like Zico Law, Azmi & Associates, Shook Lin & Bok, Skrine and also other bodies like the Malaysian Bar and Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

The LCC 2011 was held on 19th November 2011 at Universiti Malaya, in collaboration with the Universiti Malaya Law Society.

In 2010, the LCC was held on 25th July 2010 at Taylor's University Lakeside Campus, while in 2009 it was held at Taylor's College Subang Jaya.


Law Awards Dinner

Held in the summer back in Malaysia, the Law Awards Dinner is a rendezvous of legal scholars, aspiring lawyers and respected members of the legal profession.

Prior to the event, students are encouraged to send in the curriculum vitae to apply for the prestigious awards sponsored by top tier law firms. Shortlisted students are then invited to attend the ceremony organised to recognise their academic and non-academic excellence. Prizes in the form of cash, internship and/or pupillage scheme are given to winners who will be announced during the event itself.

The Law Awards Dinner 2011 and 2010 were held on 25th August 2011 and 27th August 2010 respectively at the Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, Petaling Jaya.


Debate Competition

The Debate Competition is held annually in the spring term to provide an opportunity for students from legal and non-legal backgrounds to sharpen their oratory skills.

In 2011, the Debate Competition was held in collaboration with the United Kingdom and Eire Council of Malaysian Students (UKEC) at City Law School, London on 26th March 2011. The judges were Mr Paul Subramaniam (Zico Law), Mr Peter Hungerford (City), Mr Robert McPeake (City), Ms Allison Wolfgarten (City) and Ms Nikki Walsh (City).

In 2010, the event was held at the London School of Economics on 27th February 2010 and was adjudicated by Mr Nigel Duncan (City), Mr Sarwan Singh (City) and Mr Stuart Lindsay (City).


Other Events

Bar Professional Training Course Insight Talk

The BPTC Insight Talk was held on 7th April 2011 at the University of Manchester in collaboration with the Malaysian Students' Society of Manchester (MSSM) to give current undergraduates an opportunity to understand the English bar system and the differences between various BPTC providers. The speakers were Hizami Mohd Iskandar, Esther Hor, Jacenta James and Tan Yi Lyn.
